Plan Your Digital Product with AI: Step-by-Step Framework
Stop building digital products that nobody buys.
With AI in your toolkit, it’s now easier (and faster) than ever to create and sell something people actually want.
But here’s the kicker: it all starts with solving a real problem.
If you’re tired of launching products that flop or struggling to even get started, this guide’s for you.
We’ll walk you through how to plan your digital product using AI, from research to ideation to tiered product packaging, all backed by customer insights.
Here’s what we’ll cover in this post:
How to ask your audience about their problems
How to generate writing-based product ideas using those problems
How to design a product package that fully solves those problems
How to stack the offer into multiple tiers to increase value and conversions
So, are you ready?
Let’s dive right in.
🔍 Start with the Problem, Not the Product
Let’s be honest.
Too many creators jump in head-first, building what they think is cool.
But if you’re not solving a real problem, no one’s going to care.
That’s why the first and most important step is this:
Solve a Real Problem
Before you whip out Notion, Canva or start coding, you need clarity on what you’re solving and for whom.
Here’s how to find that clarity:
Use This Prompt:
Act as a market research expert and survey designer.
Help me uncover the most pressing challenges my target audience faces within the [topic] niche, so I can build a product that directly solves those issues.
Generate 10 clear and concise multiple-choice poll questions, each aimed at identifying a specific pain point or obstacle.
Ensure that:
- Each question has 4 distinct and realistic answer options.
- The questions cover a variety of angles including emotional frustrations, practical roadblocks, mindset challenges, and financial concerns.
- Keep the language casual, friendly, and easy to understand—suitable for use on social media platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, or Instagram.
- Prioritize questions that spark engagement and are likely to receive honest responses.
Also, avoid yes/no questions and make sure each answer gives insight into a specific problem.
The niche is: [insert niche here].
Return the questions in a clean, copy-paste ready format.
Example Niche: AI in Business
And voilà! ChatGPT gives you focused, poll-friendly questions that you can throw up on LinkedIn, X/Twitter, or wherever your audience hangs out.
If you don’t have an audience yet? Consider promoting your polls to your target market using ads.
💡 Tip:
Be specific in your questions. Instead of asking, “What’s your biggest business challenge?”, try:
What’s your biggest challenge when implementing AI in your business?
A) Too expensive
B) Don’t know where to start
C) Not confident in the ROI
D) Tools feel too technical
Collect these insights in a simple spreadsheet or doc. We’ll use them to for everything else that follows.
💡 Turn Problems into Product Ideas
Now that you’ve gathered pain points straight from the source, it’s time to convert them into solutions, aka digital products.
Brainstorm Writing-Based Product Ideas
Let’s say your top customer problems are:
Lack of funds to invest in AI
Not knowing where to begin
Unclear ROI of AI tools
You can plug these into another ChatGPT prompt:
Act as an expert digital product designer and copywriter.
I’m creating a writing-based digital product in the [AI in business] niche.
My target audience faces three core challenges:
[insert problems here]
1. Lack of money to invest in expensive AI tools or consulting
2. Not knowing where to start when implementing AI in their business
3. Unclear ROI and uncertainty about how AI can actually improve their bottom line
Your task is to generate 10 creative, high-converting digital product ideas that directly address one or more of these pain points.
For each product idea:
- Give it a catchy, benefit-driven title (something scroll-stopping and easy to understand)
- Include a short but compelling description (2–3 sentences max)
- Make sure the product is writing-based (e.g., guide, workbook, checklist, swipe file, templates, email series)
- Keep the content practical and actionable—something someone could realistically use within a few hours
- Prioritize ideas that are simple to produce, affordable for customers, and valuable enough to solve real problems
Avoid video courses, services, or anything that requires external software development. Keep all products digital, downloadable, and text-based.
Present your response as a numbered list.
Why This Works:
✅ Context-rich: It frames why the questions matter
✅ Guidelines: It tells the model to think across multiple dimensions of user pain
✅ Engagement-first: It encourages emotionally resonant, social-media-friendly language
✅ Answer-specific: Avoids vague or overly general answers
Sample Output:
These are easy to build, highly targeted, and text-based, which means quick to create and launch.
Now, go a step further!
Test which of these ideas resonates most by creating another poll:
“Which of these would you buy for under $20?”
🧰 Build the Perfect Product
Once your audience has picked a winner, don’t just stop with a PDF.
Think big.
What does the ideal solution look like?
Flesh Out the Product
Here’s your prompt:
Act as an expert digital product designer and strategist.
Help me design a comprehensive, value-packed product package for my writing-based digital product titled:
[AI on a Budget – A practical guide to implementing affordable AI tools in business.]
The topic area is: [AI in business]
The core problems my customers face are:
[insert problems here]
1. They don’t have a big budget to spend on tools or consulting
2. They’re overwhelmed and unsure where to start with AI
3. They don’t understand how AI will deliver measurable ROI
Your task is to:
- Generate an exhaustive list of digital components that can be included in the product package
- Ensure each component is writing-based, easy to produce, and instantly useful
- Think beyond just an eBook—include guides, templates, worksheets, calculators, checklists, and swipe files
- Emphasize components that help the user *take action*, *build confidence*, or *get quick wins*
Present your response in a clear table format with the following columns:
- Component Name
- Format (e.g., PDF guide, Google Sheet, Notion template, email series)
- Purpose (why it helps solve a specific user problem)
Only include digital products, no physical goods or services.
✅ Example Product Components:
Simple. Actionable. Solves the exact problem.
