3 Launch Lessons Learned
And here are the lessons learned from launching the Solopreneur Code newsletter these past two weeks (and let me tell you, it's been a whirlwind!).
So go grab a coffee and enjoy the read.
Lesson #1: Launch Now, Learn Later (Seriously!)
This one might sting a bit. I confess, I waited way too long to hit that "publish" button. There's always that voice whispering "it's not perfect yet," but guess what? The good stuff happens after you launch.
This newsletter took literally 10 years to launch. Check out this post. 👇🏻
Here's the magic: talk to your target readers and you get to hear directly from them. Their feedback is gold! It helps you refine your content, understand their needs, and ultimately create a newsletter that truly resonates.
Make use of the chance to create a lead magnet that your readers want, and watch the arrows go up!
Bonus Tip: Don't be afraid to adapt! Substack's Notes feature turned out to be a game-changer for me (who knew?). When I first launch in Substack, I did not know about the existence of Notes! Be open to exploring new tools and formats – your audience will thank you for it!
Lesson #2: It's All About Them (Not You!)
Let's face it, your passion project is unlikely to take off if it doesn't address a real need. So, ditch the "what do I want to write?" mentality and flip the script.
Here's what you REALLY need to know:
What are your ideal readers struggling with?
What topics keep them up at night?
What knowledge are they desperately seeking?
Check out the design of the entire newsletter and it’s vision 👇🏻
Remember, you're here to solve problems, not just share your voice. But yes, a little passion goes a long way too!
Lesson #3: Learn from the Best (Like, the REALLY Best!)
The Substack world is brimming with inspirational leaders. Follow them, learn from them, and borrow their brilliance!
As Picasso famously said, "Good artists copy. Great artists steal." (Don't worry, we're stealing ideas, not their content!)
By surrounding yourself with incredible minds, you'll gain invaluable insights and accelerate your own solopreneur journey.
Here are some of the Substack writers that I followed, and you should check them out as well:
- and her Online Writing Club that helps writers start, grow, monetize and market their writing and newsletter online.
- and her One-Person Business Success, where she covers strategies, actionable advices on how a solopreneur can succeed. BTW, her newsletter is the reason that led me to start Solopreneur Code!
- and her Lemon Tree Mindset Newsletter, where she offer guidance to unleash your true potential and tips to build a personal brand.

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it. They just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while; that’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things.”
